The Council, as Licensing Authority, is currently undertaking a public consultation as part of the statutory five-year review of its Statement of Licensing Policy (2026 Revised).

This policy outlines how national legislation and guidance are applied locally and sets out how responsible authorities operate in practice.

BHCC is inviting feedback from local stakeholders, residents, members of the public, statutory consultees, and responsible authorities. Your views are important and will help shape the final version of the policy.

The consultation runs for 10 weeks, starting on 4 August 2025 and closing on 12 October 2025. You can access the draft policy here - Statement of Licensing Policy 2026
