Brighton and Hove City Council has just launched the first stage of an Inequality and Life Chances Review – including the call for an independent chair.
Click here to download the high-level information pack, that sets out the context and scope of the review – and calls for expressions of interest in the role of independent chair.
As the Sutton Trust set out in a report last year – in the east of our city, only 4% of young people from deprived backgrounds end up with a degree by aged 22. This is the lowest rate of any English constituency and compares to a national average of 29%. We have the 6th worst rate of deprived young people Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET) in England.
Any expressions of interest can be emailed (stating ‘Chair Expression of Interest’ in the title) to: Cabinet.office@brighton-hove.gov.uk. The deadline is 28 February 2026.
