Could you be a numeracy champion

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust Nursery

Brighton and Hove City Council is participating in the Multiply programme, which works with various providers, including National Numeracy, to offer free maths courses to adults.

Whether you live and/or work in Brighton and Hove, you and your co-workers could consider signing up for ‘Numeracy Champion’ training, to help your colleagues and the community build their number confidence.

The National Numeracy Challenge is a free online tool for adults to check their numeracy skills and start improving.

While working at Brighton General Hospital, Alba Fernández used the National Numeracy Challenge. She said:

“My advice to anyone else who felt a bit rusty about engaging with maths later in life, is to use the National Numeracy Challenge as a refresher. It is a great way to make sure that you have the level of maths you need in daily life, and a level which is good for your job.

“You can use it and keep learning in your own time too, which is the best bit! I recommend it to anyone.”

Sam Sims, Chief Executive at National Numeracy, said:

“Getting on with numbers is essential for everyday life and wherever you are in the UK there are resources available to help improve your number skills and confidence.

“For Brighton and Hove residents struggling with numbers, Multiply, Numeracy Champion training or the National Numeracy Challenge could be the first step towards improving numeracy and therefore potentially unlocking more opportunities and making the maths we need in our daily lives easier to approach and deal with.”
