In winter 2023 the council ran a series of grant schemes as part of the Shared Prosperity Fund across Brighton & Hove. One of these aimed to help businesses adopt new to the firm technologies or processes that will support decarbonisation or improve the natural environment.
After payment of the successful business decarbonisation grants a portion of the fund remained unallocated. If the remaining fund it is not spent - with projects delivered by 31 March 2025 - the money needs to be returned to government. Therefore, we are launching a final opportunity for businesses in Brighton & Hove to apply for grants for investment in equipment, infrastructure or upgrades that will have a measurable impact on carbon outputs and the natural environment.
There is a total pot of £100,000 potentially available. Individual grants of up to £25,000 will be considered.
These grants are for capital investments. Capital expenditure is money used to either purchase or build an asset, or to improve or upgrade an existing asset. It involves acquiring or enhancing fixed assets with a long-term value. Match funding is not a requirement of these grants but will increase the impact of investment.
Registered businesses with a base in Brighton & Hove are eligible, so long as they:
• are a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) of any type (including social enterprises and CICs) or are a sole trader.
• are based within the boundary of Brighton & Hove City Council Area
• can submit a full set of accounts for the previous year before award of the grant.
• have a bank account associated to the business, where grants can be payable to. Grant payments cannot be made to individual or personal bank accounts.
Prospective applicants can email spf@brighton-hove.gov.uk to receive a form. This should be completed and returned by 10am on 6 November 2024. For further information or support, email spf@brighton-hove.gov.uk or call on the number below.
