Brighton & Hove Bus Company Celebrate Over 70,000 passenger journeys have benefitting from flexible fares

Over 70,000 passenger journeys have benefited from flexible and capped tap on, tap off contactless journeys since the launch three weeks ago - £19 offer extended

Brighton & Hove and Metrobus introduced new discounts for people returning to work and needing more travel flexibility. Flexible and capped tap on, tap off contactless launched just three weeks ago and since the launch, over 70,000 passenger journeys have benefited from being discounted from the usual fare.

It's been such a hit with passengers that Brighton & Hove and Metrobus are extending the special weekly capped rate of just £19 until 6 March 2022. Passengers can travel as often as they like from Monday to Sunday with tap on, tap off contactless and only pay £19 per week!

Brighton & Hove and Metrobus Commercial Director, Nick Hill said “We are delighted that so many people are benefiting from our new flexible and capped tap on, tap off contactless service. It gives local people the ease and flexibility they need to travel in a way reflects their work-home lifestyle yet still offers excellent value for money. The more days travelled in a week, the less you pay each day. If you reach the weekly cap, the rest of the week is free.”

Flexible and capped tap on, tap off contactless gives passengers the opportunity to pay flexibly, with minimal planning in advance and still get rewarded for regular travel. The more journeys made in a week using tap on tap off contactless, the cheaper the daily price cap will get. And if the total cost of journeys reach the weekly price cap, passengers won’t pay any more for that weeks’ travel when paying with the same card and tapping on and off as usual on our high frequency services.

Flexible capping with tap on, tap off contactless is perfect if you are only in the office a few days a week, heading into town for shopping or meeting up with friends. Tap on, tap off contactless is available for Brighton & Hove’s City and Network SAVERS and Metrobus Metrorider and Metrovoyager.

Just tap your Visa, MasterCard, Google or Apple Pay on the reader as you get on the bus and tap off as you leave. There are card readers at every set of doors and passengers don’t have to wait until the bus stops, simply tap off as the bus approaches your stop.
