Coldean community has submitted two applications to establish a Neighbourhood Area and a Neighbourhood Forum for the Coldean area. One seeks to designate a Neighbourhood Area as shown on the map below and the other seeks to designate a Neighbourhood Forum. The proposed Neighbourhood Area covers the whole of Coldean and also its surrounding area which lies within the South Downs National Park. The proposed boundaries stretch from Lewes Road to Ditchling Road and from the Wild Park boundary to the A27 Bypass.
If they are approved, the Neighbourhood Forum will be able to draw up a Neighbourhood Development Plan for the area.
How it affects you
Neighbourhood planning gives local people who live, work, or are elected representatives in an area, the right to draw up a neighbourhood plan. This sets out a vision for future development in the area.
If the forum designation is made, no other organisation can be designated to draw up a Neighbourhood Plan for the area.
