Former Amex House site to boost business space in Brighton to support the city’s economy

Mixed-use developer First Base and investors Patron Capital have submitted a planning application (ref: BH2018/00340) for the £100 million redevelopment of the former Amex House site on Edward Street, and there is a current opportunity for local businesses and residents to comment upon the plans. The plans will bring forward 160,000 sq ft of Grade A commercial space for around 2,500 staff, bringing modern workspace for small, medium and large businesses who want to stay or locate in the City.

Designed by award-winning architects BuckleyGreyYeoman, the plans will provide the much-needed space that local businesses need in order to grow and expand in Brighton and boost the local economy. It is anticipated that the development will bring in £12.14m in business rates and an additional £4.2m in local spending to the area.

n addition to the workspace, the plans will also deliver 168 new homes including 20% affordable housing, community and retail floorspace. The proposals include a high-quality open space set around an improved public realm.

First Base and Patron Capital are delighted that the application is supported by the Brighton and Hove Economic Partnership. We are encouraging as many businesses as possible to show their support for the need for the development and the modern workspace it will provide by submitting comments on the Council website:
