Jim May is Vice President of Sussex Cricket .When he was Chairman, Sussex Cricket Limited was formed in 2015, as an integrated body responsible for the governance and development of the whole game in the County. This integrated the 245 affiliated Clubs and the professional team Sussex County Cricket Club. Its charitable arm, Sussex Community Foundation carries out community activities creating better futures for all through the power of sport majoring on inclusion, health and employment.

He is Chair of the Local Governing Committee of Brighton Aldridge Community Academy. BACA is a community secondary school based in East Brighton and is rated “good” by Ofsted. BACA also has innovative post 16 provision including sporting academies, the Brighton Digital Media Academy and partnerships with BIMM and KSD Construction to provide specialist education

In addition he invests in small local businesses, mainly in the tech area, and advises start-up companies on a pro bono basis. Jim’s background career was in banking, with responsibility for running the RBS and NatWest commercial business in the South of England & South Wales. He then carried out a number of roles including Chair of Shoreham Port and NED roles in the NHS and a law firm. Jim is a Deputy Lieutenant for East Sussex.

Jim says “ As  someone who has lived in the City for over 40 years I am very keen to see a stronger local economy .There are several obvious challenges but I believe there is a raw energy in Brighton & Hove which, if properly harnessed, can bring great benefit to the residents ,businesses and institutions based here”.
