Angi Mariani
Latest Bars and Latest TV
Director: Latest Bars Ltd
Angi Mariani co-founded the Latest with her business partner, Bill Smith. They are a good working team who
have contributed a lot to the cultural life of the city. They started a weekly property and city magazine in 2001 which 20 years later still informs the city of all the unmissable events happening in the key venues such as The Brighton Centre, Theatre Royal and Dome and also the city’s thriving independent music venue scene.
In 2007 they established the music venue, Latest Musicbar in Manchester Street to promote live music, comedy and events, and this has grown and has also hosted over 1200 parties in 13 years such as weddings, birthday parties and charity events. As musicians they have created 6 albums, musicals, and played in concerts around the world.
In 2012 they won the TV licence for the city and Latest TV has been broadcasting 24/7 since 2014. With a small
creative team, they produce countless programmes, films, documentaries, as well as documenting the city’s news and current affairs daily. Angi is passionate about supporting local businesses and creating high quality work at affordable prices and to reach the widest possible number of customers. Latest TV is very well regarded within the UK Local TV network for its original content, diversity and wide remit and the aim is to keep the TV station as an asset for Brighton & Hove celebrating all that is great about the city from Brighton
Palace Pier, to the Amex stadium to the many talented residents.
Angi is proud to be a member of the Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership in order to be able to listen
to many voices from all sectors in the city, and to represent SMEs and local media.
Angi has a first class degree from the University of Sussex and an MSc in Epidemiology from the London
School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and believes TV is a great medium to share information to a mainstream audience whether it is about science and technology, or the work of local businesses, or creative films from the many filmmakers in the city. The BHEP provides an excellent opportunity to make
connections between different sectors and ideas so that Brighton & Hove continues to innovate and thrive.
