Consultation on the Brighton Marina Neighbourhood Forum redesignation application

Between 10 September and 22 October, the council is consulting on an application from the Brighton Marina Neighbourhood Forum to formally renew its designation as a neighbourhood forum. The Neighbourhood Forum was originally designated in 2015 and then redesignated in 2020. Each designation period lasts for five years. The current designation will expire on 3 November 2025.

The Brighton Marina Forum have produced a Neighbourhood Plan for the area which came into force on 14 February 2025.

Neighbourhood planning is a powerful tool that allows local people who live, work, or serve as elected representatives in the area to play a significant role in setting out a vision for future development. If the forum designation is renewed, no other organisation will be able to create a neighbourhood plan for this area within the next 5 years. The boundary of the Neighbourhood Area was designated in November 2018 and will not change. The forum is required to have a written constitution outlining the organisation's basic framework and a minimum of 21 members. This information is available on the consultation portal.
