Join Brighton Chamber to hear from a panel of experts addressing this key issue facing businesses in the city – and get involved inn the conversation where we ask your thoughts too.
Brighton has a history of bucking the trend, of being different. Who remembers the campaign for the People’s Republic of Brighton & Hove in 2015? Fast forward to 2025 and evolution is the new buzzword of the moment. Sussex and Brighton have been identified as an area for priority devolution, the transfer of powers and funding from national to local government, with a strategic authority and elected mayor.
But what actually is devolution, and what does it mean in practice for businesses and economic growth in our city?
At our next Big Debate on 17 June at The Old Market from 5-7pm, we’re bringing together over 150 people from across the business community in Brighton and beyond to look at what devolution could mean for the city’s economic outlook, its identity and the region’s prospects. Chaired by Natalie Orringe, Founder of Strategy + Impact, we’ll also hear from:
• Richard Freeman, CEO at always possible
• Jessica Gibbons, CEO at Brighton & Hove City Council
• Member of the Brighton & Hove Youth Council
• Sarah Springford, CEO at Brighton Chamber
