Across 6 weekends, from 22 August to 27 September, the world’s 16 best women’s rugby teams will be competing to be world cup winners.
Brighton & Hove is one of eight cities that will host matches and welcome teams and fans from across the world.
Two games will take place at the Brighton & Hove Albion Stadium:
• Saturday 6 September: England v Australia (kick-off 5pm)
• Sunday 7 September: New Zealand v Ireland (kick-off 2.45pm)
The four teams playing in our city include the current world cup title holders New Zealand as well as England’s Red Roses who have gone into the tournament as the highest ranking – men’s or women’s - team in history.
Record breaking ticket sales
With still months to go, ticket sales for the tournament have already exceeded a record breaking 220,000.
The remaining available tickets will go on sale from 25 February 2025.
Commenting on the tournament, Brighton & Hove City Council’s leader, Bella Sankey says:
“Hosting major sporting events like this provides an opportunity to showcase the city to a new global audience. It can bring a significant boost to many of our local businesses and suppliers but it’s also a golden opportunity for residents to get more involved with sport.
“Recent figures from the Football Association show that since we welcomed the Women’s Euros to the city in 2023, 129,000 more girls have become involved in schools’ football across the host cities.
“Improving the health and wellbeing of women and girls is a high priority for us and we’re hoping there will be the same ripple effect for rugby”.
