South East Angels, a prominent angel investment group, has been honoured with the ‘Most Active Investor in the Regions’ award at the UK Business Angel Association (UKBAA) awards ceremony. The event took place in early July at the Science Museum in London, recognising outstanding achievements in the angel investment community.
Since its inception in late 2020, South East Angels has made significant strides in supporting early-stage businesses outside the UK's "Golden Triangle" of London, Oxford, and Cambridge. The group has deployed over £1.7 million in capital across 24 companies and achieved one successful exit, landing them a win at the UKBAA awards for Most Active Investor in the Regions, as well a listing as finalist for Angel Group of the Year.
"I founded the group with a mission for us to become the most active investor in the region, so to be recognised for this exact thing is such a significant milestone for us," said Kristina Pereckaite, founder of South East Angels. "It's hard to put it into words, but our community has such a unique culture, and our members really are some of the best angel investors in our region. They all thoroughly deserve this recognition."
South East Angels has grown to include 49 members, all of whom are experienced entrepreneurs and investors. The group focuses on pre-seed and seed-stage investments across various sectors, bringing together some of the most successful entrepreneurs from the region to back exceptional founders building impactful companies.
A member of South East Angels said “Being part of South East Angels has been a thoroughly rewarding experience. Not only has it given me access to invest in some very exciting startups but also has provided a great community of committed, friendly and knowledgeable people to invest alongside."
Looking ahead, the group plans to expand its community across the South East and is running a Future Angels programme to introduce more women to angel investing.
This award from the UKBAA validates South East Angels' approach and impact in the region, setting the stage for continued growth and success in supporting the next generation of innovative businesses.
