New policy recommendations to support UK entrepreneurs have been announced by The Entrepreneurs Network at an awards event in the House of Lords. At a reception in parliament Youth Business International hosted a meeting of international entrepreneurs to review new policy proposals to stimulate youth innovation growth.
The proposals are designed to give a boost to UK economic growth by supporting sustainable youth startup support. Attendees included international award winning entrepreneurs developing new products and services with high environmental and social value.
Recent research showed over half young people in the UK were considering starting a business but lacked effective government agency support and insufficient engagement with other successful innovation companies. Over 100 attendees used the opportunity to network and share ideas to improve business sustainability. Proposals include reforming programmes such as Shared Prosperity Funding and enterprise allowance schemes and improve consultation with successful innovators to share their skills and experience.
Brighton based Clive Bonny MD whose firm Strategic Management Partners has been supporting innovation companies since 1990, says “The proposals from this extensive research should be actioned by policy makers and all those involved in implementing startup support. Every year more than 200,000 small enterprises startup in the UK yet 75% will fail, causing significant losses of jobs and tax revenues with consequent damage to local community services.”
