Adoption of East Sussex, South Downs and Brighton & Hove Waste and Minerals Local Plan Revised Policies

The East Sussex, South Downs and Brighton & Hove Waste and Minerals Local Plan Revised Policies (pdf) (the Plan) was, subject to a number of Main Modifications, found sound by an independent Government Planning Inspector, subject to a number of modifications. Since then, East Sussex County Council, the South Downs National Park Authority and Brighton & Hove City Council have all agreed the Main Modifications and resolved to adopt the Plan as planning policy for waste management and minerals production for the Plan Area to 2030.

In accordance with Regulation 26 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended), the adopted Plan is now available to view on the following website:

Hard copies can be viewed at the libraries and offices detailed on the adoption notice (pdf) (also available at the above website). The Sustainability Appraisal of the Plan is also available to view with the Plan.

In addition, Article 9 of the Strategic Environmental Assessment Directive requires that when a plan is adopted, specific information is made available, including that which shows how the assessment of the environmental effects of the Plan (included in the Plan’s Sustainability Appraisal) have been taken into account. This information has been published as the ‘SEA Post Adoption Statement' (pdf) and is available to view with the adopted Plan as detailed above.
