University of Sussex's Career lab is now open to expressions of interest

Expressions of interest are now open for the Career Lab: Student Consultancy Programme. This scheme offers businesses the opportunity to explore a live challenge faced by their organisation whilst providing meaningful work experience to a small group of final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students. Students spend a combined 100 hours on a project brief set by you (the client) and provide a business-style presentation to showcase their findings.

The spring programme will run from 19 February to 15 March 2024 (apply by 29 January 2024).

There is no financial obligation, the research can be carried out remotely, and the time commitment is very low. There are limited project spaces, and priority will be given to those that work towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

Students will have varying levels of work experience but have strong research skills and a willingness to learn. They will receive training and support from the University throughout.

• Dedicated team of 4-5 students over a part-time 4-week project duration (funded by the University)

• Client supplies project brief that is meaningfully achieved in 4 weeks

• Client delegates a key contact person who will be available for 3 engagement sessions; an initial meeting with the student team, a midway meetup for queries and updates, and the final project presentation

If you have a degree-specific project brief, our academic colleagues increasingly seek external projects for use within the curriculum. These briefs give subject cohort students a chance to apply their learning under academic supervision, while also improving their employability. If you feel that your requirements are more degree-specific, please still complete the above form and we will advise on which programme is the most suitable. Please note the deadlines above are for our Career Lab programmes only.
