Have your say on the introduction of more zero emission buses

The Department for Transport (DfT) have launched the Zero-Emission Regional Bus Areas (ZEBRA) 2 scheme, which will provide £129 million nationally to support the introduction of Zero Emission Buses (ZEBs) in financial years 2023 to 2024 and 2024 to 2025. This will be a single-stage funding competition to award funding over both financial years.

Brighton & Hove City Council has placed an Expression of Interest in applying for this funding and are currently in discussions with local bus operators about this.

A successful ZEBRA 2 bid could secure considerable investment and potential benefits for the city, namely the reduction in air pollution and carbon emissions. This could be critical in helping to achieve the target of the city becoming Carbon Neutral by 2030.

The council would like to give you the opportunity to provide your comments on a possible deployment of further zero-emission electric buses in the city and understand any potential impacts, either positive or negative you feel this may have.

As part of the bid an Equality Impact Assessment would be carried out. BHCC would therefore especially welcome feedback from stakeholders that represent people from protected characteristic groups.
