Celebrating 800 signups to the Brighton & Hove Living Wage Campaign!

Over 4,000 salaries raised across Brighton & Hove

There’s been cause for celebration recently, as the Brighton & Hove Living Wage Campaign reached over 800 signups – that’s over 4,000 salaries raised across our city.

The campaign is run by Brighton Chamber, and one of the only business-led Living Wage campaigns in the UK.

On 19 May, Living Wage Employers from across Brighton & Hove were invited to celebrate the milestone, network, and share their stories.

Sarah Springford, CEO of Brighton Chamber, spoke about the history of the Living Wage Campaign: “Brighton & Hove Living Wage Campaign has been running for 10 years, and we’ve come a really long way. But with over 16,000 businesses in Brighton & Hove, there’s still a long way to go.”

Councillor Phélim Mac Cafferty, Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council, also joined Living Wage employers, sharing the impact of the Living Wage Campaign throughout our city. Despite the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and economic changes, Councillor Mac Cafferty emphasized that “Everyone should earn enough to cover the cost of living” in Brighton & Hove.
