Construction Voice Lunch: The rise of Build to Rent

Construction Voice Lunch: The rise of Build to Rent

Join as we explore the rise of Build to Rent, and its implications to the property and construction sector in Brighton & Hove and the wider city region

The Private Rented Sector has experienced significant growth in recent times, primarily through small scale private landlords operating property investments. It’s safe to say this has been a familiar concept of rental accommodation in the marketplace.

But, in the last ten years, following a boom in purpose-built student accommodation and proof of similar concepts in North America and parts of Europe, an institutionally packed purpose-built format of private rented property caught the eyes of lots of stakeholders. This is of course, Build to Rent (BTR).

At our next Construction Voice lunch on 23 March, we’ll hear from guest speaker Dan Batterton, Head of Build to Rent at Legal & General Investment Management, in a discussion and Q&A session. We’ll hear about the rise of BTR in the UK, and changes this could bring to construction and property in Brighton & Hove, the Greater Brighton City Region, and most importantly – whether we’re ready for these changes.

BTR has been said to deliver better security to tenants/customers, offering long-term occupation, amenities, potential solutions to affordable housing shortages. So is our city understanding of what BTR brings, and is there sufficient appetite for this new, growing segment of the property sector amongst stakeholders?

Date: 23 March

Time: 12-2pm

Location: Malmaison, 11 Mermaid Walk, Brighton, BN2 5WA
