Unemployment across all age groups is currently approximately 2000 higher than March 2020. The steady decline in unemployment which commenced in February 2021 is levelling out.
The latest data (July 21-June 22) shows 34,400 people aged 16-64 in Brighton & Hove have been measured as economically inactive in the ONS annual population survey. This is 16.7% of the 16-64 year old population, compared to 21.4% nationally. The below table shows a breakdown of the reasons for economic inactivity, as a percentage of all economically inactive residents.
