Brighton Gasworks Planning Application Changes Submitted to Brighton Council

St William, part of the Berkeley Group, has submitted revised plans in support of their planning application for the redevelopment of Brighton Gasworks. The additions include:

  • Delivery of 226 (40%) affordable homes in partnership with a Registered Provider with Homes England funding. 115 (51%) of the homes will be for affordable rent and 111 (49%) will be for Shared Ownership.

  • Design changes have focussed on the northern end of the site and Boundary Road where heights have been reduced and the architectural character has been revisited.

  • The amount of built floorspace has reduced whilst more efficient use of building forms has resulted in a slight increase in the number of homes by eight apartments and four townhouses.

  • Aspects of the development that were received positively previously have been retained, in particular such as the key public open spaces, the quality of the landscape, the Regency-inspired seafront architecture, and the townhouses.
