Your Questions Answered: Digitization of trade and the legal reforms needed (virtual)

Electronic documents have the potential to make global trade more efficient, cheaper and more secure. Until the law catches up with the relevant technology, however these benefits – worth billions every year – will not be realised. The law commission sets out proposals to bring the law and into the 21st century releasing property or title in goods or services from paper-based systems to electronic.

On Friday 9 July, from 1 - 2 pm, Brighton Chamber CEO Sarah Springford will be joined by Lesley Batchelor OBE, CEO of International Trade Experts Ltd, which runs the Export Boot Camp series of workshops, and ICC United Kingdom, Secretary General, Chris Southworth.

We’ll cover topics including:

• Why is digitisation of trade so difficult?

• How can the ownership or title be linked to paper transactions?

• What legal reforms are needed?

• What role does the International Chamber of Commerce play?

• Will this produce a frictionless trade?

You can send your questions in advance to Daisy from the Chamber and there will be a chance to ask your questions during the session.

Date: Friday 9 July 2021

Time: 1 – 2 pm
