Your Questions Answered: The UKs new Immigration System for employers

The UK’s new immigration system is now in place and it is becoming increasingly important for employers to get to grips with what it means for existing employees and job applicants. It is absolutely vital that Europeans who were in the UK before 2021 make an application under the EU Settlement Scheme and new hires will normally need to be sponsored, a technical process that needs to be done properly.

On the flip side, UK nationals have lost their right of free movement in Europe creating a host of practical challenges for work and business. In this session we will help you understand what is needed for both groups and how you can get on the front foot.

On Thursday 15 April, from 1 - 2 pm, Brighton Chamber CEO, Sarah Springford will be joined by Ian Robinson, Partner at Fragomen, Immigration attorneys, solicitors, and consultants worldwide .

We will cover topics including:

• The EU Settlement Scheme:

o How can employees apply, what will they get and where are the risks?

o How can employers help their people make an application and stay on top of things once a status is granted?

• The new immigration system:

o Skilled worker visas and sponsorship: When can you employ people from overseas, becoming a sponsor and alternative visa categories

o Right to work checks and reducing the risk of illegal working

o Your HR policies for foreign workers: things to think about, things to do and ways to help them

o Immigration in Europe

o When can UK nationals visit Europe, when do they need a work permit?

o What is involved, how long will it take and how can you make the most of EU law

You can send your questions in advance to Daisy and there will be a chance to submit your questions during the session.

The date is Thursday 15 April

The time is 1 – 2 pm
