The School for Social Entrepreneurs on starting or running a social enterprise

The School for Social Entrepreneurs on starting or running a social enterprise

Social enterprise offers a different way of doing business, driven not just by profit but by making a difference to communities or the environment. As with all businesses, they compete to deliver goods and services - the difference is that social purpose is at the very heart of what social enterprises do, and any profits they make are reinvested towards achieving that purpose.

This workshop will provide an introduction to social enterprise, including:

• What is a social enterprise

• How social enterprises bring purpose into their business model

• What the world looks like through the eyes of a social entrepreneur

• What support is available to people wanting to start a social enterprise

The workshop will be run by the School for Social Entrepreneurs, who have been providing courses to equip people to start, scale and strengthen organisations that make a positive difference since 1997. You’ll also hear a witness session from someone who has started a social enterprise, and learn some of the challenges and opportunities they’ve experienced along the way.

This workshop is for you if you want to understand more about social enterprise - maybe you have an idea for a social enterprise but aren’t sure where to start, or you are founding a business where your main reason for setting up is to make a difference to a community and/or environment rather than ‘just’ making money. As with all learning with the School for Social Entrepreneurs, this session will be interactive.
