Government Covid Grants for businesses to begin imminently

The first BACs for the government grants will be on Friday (3.4.20) and payments will hit accounts on the 8th April for eligible businesses who currently pay via direct debit, and those for whom the council has up-to-date records. BHCC have around 1,800 properties eligible for the 25k (mostly direct debit payers), and just under 4,000 properties eligible for the 10k. Of these some are missing essential contact details.

BHCC is bringing in volunteers from other council services to track down the business data that is missing, but mindful of the potential for fraud, all new information is being checked by finance officers before payments are made. There will be another BACs run when the missing business data has been found.

If business owners think that they are eligible for one of the funds but uncertain whether the council has their up-to-date records they can complete the on-line form on the council’s business rates page https://new.brighton-hove.gov.uk/business-and-trade/business-rates/contact-us-about-business-rates. You must includeyour business rate account number in order for the council to find out whether you are due to be paid.
