Brighton & Hove City Council’s eCargo Bike Accelerator Project
The project has two offers for local businesses. To take up an offer, contact: oli.ivens@mpsmartertravel.co.uk .
Offer 1) - Subsidised deliveries
• a subsidy of £125 towards switching to 3rd party eCargo bike services (e.g. a zero-emission courier).
• a list of available services can be found here.
An example of this switch would be Smarter Uniforms beginning deliveries of second-hand uniforms with environmentally-friendly courier, Zedify. Smarter Uniforms will receive £125 for this switch. This amount covers their first 25-40 deliveries, giving them time to test the new service, while removing vans from the city’s streets.
Offer 2) - Interested in owning an eCargo bike? Then they offer
• impartial expert advice on the best eCargo bike to suit your budget and needs
• free rider training & help finding insurance
• marketing and promotion of your organisation as a showcase of good practice for clean and sustainable business deliveries
Key benefits of eCargo bikes
• much more affordable purchase and operating costs than cars and vans, including electric vehicles
• simple and convenient parking and loading in busy urban areas
• zero emissions and access to car-free areas
• a positive image for your business or organisation, including the opportunity to brand your eCargo bike and be promoted by the Council.
