Your Questions Answered (virtual): The UK’s Post-Brexit Points-Based Immigration System
On 1 January 2021, the UK’s new immigration system will come into effect. With the end of EU freedom of movement, employers wishing to hire foreign workers will have a new set of rules to navigate. In this session we’ll be unpicking these new regulations and exploring their consequences for businesses.
On 17 Dec 2020, from 1 - 2 pm, Brighton Chamber CEO Sarah Springford will be joined by Dr Peter Walsh, researcher at the Migration Observatory, University of Oxford.
We’ll cover topics including:
• What employers need to do to ensure their employees have a valid leave to work in the UK
• Changes in the law
• What businesses need to do to employ foreign workers
• What new hiring processes will be required and how much new paperwork there will be
• How sponsor licenses work
• The challenges for smaller businesses and those in low paid sectors
• Skills levels and pay for future employees
• Are skills shortages expected and what can be done about this?
• How will the shortage occupation list work?
• What legislation is yet to be implemented?
You can send your questions in advance to Daisy and there will be a chance to submit your questions during the session.
Date: Wednesday 17 Dec
Time: 1 – 2 pm
