Brighton & Hove City Council is supporting local businesses and organisations to use and switch to electric cargo (eCargo) bikes for deliveries of goods and services.
To do this BHCC have a subsidy to help businesses that apply to switch to a third party eCargo bike delivery service.

About the project:
BHCC are encouraging local businesses to change the way they deliver goods and services across the city by using eCargo bikes. This will contribute towards BHCC Carbon Neutral 2030 goal and proposed car free city centre.

What is an eCargo bike?
An eCargo bike can have 2, 3 or 4 wheels, has a rechargeable battery, an electric assist motor that aids pedalling, and a large container unit (max load up to 250kg plus rider) for delivering goods and equipment. There are various types of eCargo bikes on the market and if your business is looking to purchase one, this project can help you choose the right one for your needs.

BHCC is looking for businesses who are considering using eCargo bikes as part of their operations. So far, through the Department for Transport’s eCargo Bike Grant Fund for Local Authorities, BHCC have supported these departments and businesses to make the switch to eCargo bikes.
