Brighton Girl launches city-wide secret Santa campaign
This Christmas, Brighton Girl, a community for women living in Brighton, is asking Brightonians to get into the Christmas spirit by donating gifts to those less fortunate as part of its new city-wide secret Santa campaign – ‘The Big Wrap’.
In the run up to Christmas, gifts for men, women and children of all ages can be donated to drop off points located across the city including The Brunswick, Coffee Counter, Old Albion and the newly re-opened Winter Foragers, until 18 December.
The Big Wrap has been organised by Brighton Girl, in support of three local charities: Sussex Homeless Support, Survivors’ Network and Rise.
The gift drive will conclude with a community gift wrapping party held at the Marwood Bar & Coffee House on Wednesday 18 December between 6:30-9:30pm. All are invited to come along to enjoy food, drink and music whilst wrapping the donations.
Brighton Girl’s founder, Pippa Moyle, was inspired to set up the initiative in collaboration with Jimmy Dorrell, Witness Media, Jasmine Barnes, Midnight Communications and Face Media Group, to ensure that no one is left without a present this Christmas.
Pippa said: “I’ve witnessed the strain that Christmas can have on families, homeless people and abuse survivors. Our Big Wrap is a small gesture to show people facing hard times that our city is here to support them. Brighton Girl has made such a positive impact on the lives of thousands of women and this is the perfect opportunity to extend our support network to the wider community.”
Brighton Girl is part of the City Girl Network, a social network helping young women living in cities all over the world find housemates, travel companions, new jobs, new friends and things to do.
With over 6,000 members on Facebook, Brighton Girl is a community open to all women finding their feet in Brighton. From monthly drinks and coffee meet ups to music, comedy and cinema trips, Brighton Girl organises a range of events offering its members an opportunity to socialise.
